A lady from Exeter is due to appear in court soon in order to face charges of theft after she reportedly stole and attempted to pawn nine items of jewellery belonging to the employer she worked as a housekeeper for.

Police have charged Bonnie Colotti aged 55 of stealing thousands of pounds worth of diamond rings and gold bracelets and necklaces from the dwelling she was working at. She is the alleged to have taken them to a local mall where she pawned them later that day. She is now facing charges of theft and will make an appearance at Portsmouth District Court in a matter of days.

Now she faces charges of theft and is due to appear in court any day now at Portsmouth district court. Police were called to the house after the owner discovered the jewellery missing from the box it was kept in. Items including a sapphire ring, diamond ring and a gold bracelet were included in the stolen items.

The victim of the theft informed the police about the missing jewellery and stated that there had only been two people present when the theft occurred- the dog walker and the housekeeper.

Documents provided by the court show that both individuals were contacted but later Colotti appeared at the house and admitted that she took the jewellery due to “times were tough and she was broke.”

Police then found out that she had taken the gold to a gold buying shop in the local mall and attempted to pawn it.

It was able to be proven that Colotti stole the gold as she used her driver’s licence as ID when she sold the nine pieces. The people at the gold buying shop reportedly removed the precious stones and gave them to Colotti. The items listed by the gold buying company are a perfect match to that of those stolen.

Colotti was formally charged on October the eight and is now on bail pending the court case outcome.

Sometimes costume jewellery can look similar to authentic gold and silver costume jewellery.
